First Reining competitor for Ireland heading for the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky.

The Irish Quarter Horse Association (Reining Group) is proud to announce that our mentor Ollie Galligan has been successful at his first qualifier for the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games, held at Reining By The Bay Show in Woodside, California, U.S.
This National Reining Horse Association event with a $70,000 added Futurity and Derby held from 20-26 July it attracted competitors from all over the US.

Ollie who hails from County Cavan has been training Reining and Reined Cow horses successfully in California for a number of years. He with his wife Gillian, operate Galligan Performance Horses in Petaluma California. Reining as a sport could be described as a western dressage. Ollie who has some very good horses decided earlier this year that he would try to qualify for the FEI World Equestrian Games and be the very first competitor in Reining under the Irish flag. He received his competition licence from Horse Sport Ireland in July.

The Irish Quarter Horse Association (Reining Group) is very proud to have Ollie as one of our mentors. He is a member of our Association and has advised us in setting up of our own training program and will be back in Ireland to hold more clinics with us. Hopefully some of our own young riders will be competing in the near future.
